About
Adria Otte is a musician, composer, sound engineer and educator whose work is driven by an enduring curiosity about the transformative power of sound and its expressive possibilities. Her musical journey has followed a winding path — from classical violin studies and playing guitar in rock bands to free improvisation, traditional Korean drumming, experimental electro-acoustic composition, sound design, and audio engineering. These diverse experiences inform a practice that moves fluidly between acoustic and electronic sound worlds, composition and improvisation, performance and technology.
In addition to creating solo electro-acoustic works, Adria frequently collaborates with dance-theater and interdisciplinary artists as a composer and sound designer. Her work has been presented through collaborations with Dohee Lee’s Puri Arts, NAKA Dance Theater, and inkBoat at venues including Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, REDCAT, Dolores Winningstad Theatre, Wiener Festwochen, Gibney, Colegio de San Ildefonso, Z Space, Oakland Museum of California, and the Asian Art Museum, among others.
From 2015 to 2019, she collaborated with the late Julie Moon in the electro-acoustic duo OMMO, performing original works throughout the Bay Area, including the San Francisco Electronic Music Festival in 2018, and in Korea.
She previously worked as a recording engineer at Women’s Audio Mission and for Lolly Lewis’ Transparent Recordings. Since 2019, she has shared her passion for music and music technology with students at the College of San Mateo, where she serves as an Associate Professor of Music.
